Texture of the Week 4/11/11

This cracked mud texture is an easy way to add age or a broken affect to your image. With a little creativity, some levels adjustments, and inverting the image you can come up with some cool lightening effects as well. But that’s pretty far out and creative…you probably shouldn’t try that at home.

Texture of the Week 3/22/11

A fiber texture sampled from an industrial carpet. You can use it to texture images or create the illusion of woven fabric in your art. A very useful little file that can also mimic some of the qualities of watercolor and paint texture with a bit of gaussian blur and adjustment.

Ok so this might not qualify as strictly a texture, but I found it useful, so I decided to give it away. Below is an example of how you can use this image to create a rift or crack in a surface with an earthy rock-like texture.
